Sonic Retro and Sonic Stuff Research Group team up once again to bring you the Sonic Hacking Contest 2014. The competition for all ROM hacks, mods and more based on our favorite blue blur. Entries are now being accepted on the website and can be accessed by logging in with either a Retro or SSRG forum account. As you can see Metal Sonic Rebooted ended up winning best overall hack with the Hidden Palace Trophy (1st Place), I should mention that it also has a 1.1 version now available and easy to find. It was a great SHC this year with some very surprising entries, my favorite have to be Metal Sonic Rebooted and Sonic & Ashuro. 1. An Ordinary Sonic 1 Rom Hack

This is a hack of Sonic the Hedgehog for Genesis. The hack is named after the Sonic Amateur Games Expo (SAGE) and was submitted to the 2010 convention. The hack adds a Time Attack, as well as recording high score, ring total, monitors broken, badniks, and hits taken. Level Select is available on the new world HUB. There are challenges in the forms of full game playthrough and boss attack. In full game playthrough the HUD can be set to global mode showing the overall records during gameplay. During normal gameplay and during challenges pausing the game and pressing A will return the player to the overworld.

So, I've been thinking about a cool ROM hack I wanna make, and I've already used SonEd2 to edit the first half of GHZ Act 1. I want some tools to easily change level graphics (palettes, tiles), sprites (Sonic, enemies), the title screen, and zone text (Green Hill Zone to Orange Hill Zone etc), as well as something to change the music, preferably each act should have its own tune, and I want to. Just a few short weeks after SAGE 2019, the Sonic Hacking Contest 2019 site is live! As noted on the site’s main page, account registration is still separate from the Sonic Retro or SSRG forums. However, existing accounts from 2018 should still be live, though to access them, you’ll need to use the password reset before logging in.

Fifty achievements are available by pressing Start on the Overworld. If using a certain emulator available at Sonic Retro the ability to upload results and achievements are available meaning you can compete with other players. Otherwise achievements will be disabled and results will be saved differently. An Ordinary Sonic 1 Rom Hack

The patch is in xdelta format due to shifted data resulting in IPS patches containing original code. The ROM should be in BIN format.
